Ryan Raiders Triumph Over Aledo Bearcats in UIL Quarterfinals

In a thrilling matchup held in Crowley on Saturday, the Ryan Raiders (13-1) defeated the Aledo Bearcats (12-2) in the UIL Class 5A Division 1 quarterfinals. The game was tightly contested, especially in the first half, but Ryan turned up the heat in the second half, outscoring the Bearcats 21-7.

The game kicked off with Ryan making an early statement, as Nemo Warmate broke off a stunning 30-yard touchdown run, giving the Raiders a 7-0 lead with just over eight minutes left in the first quarter. However, Aledo quickly answered back when Gavin Beard punched in a 1-yard touchdown, leveling the score at 7-7 with 4:38 remaining in the opening quarter. To close out the first quarter, Ryan regained the lead with a field goal from Daniel Rodriguez, making it 10-7.

As the second quarter unfolded, Aledo took control, with Raycine Guillory scoring on a short-yard touchdown. The teams headed to halftime with Aledo leading 14-10.

After the break, Aledo appeared to maintain their momentum, extending their lead to 21-10 following a 33-yard touchdown pass from Beard to Blake Burdine. However, Ryan made a comeback with a spectacular 80-yard touchdown from Tre’Vaughn Reynolds, narrowing Aledo’s lead to 21-17.

The fourth quarter was a showcase of Ryan’s resilience. Warmate ran in a 27-yard touchdown, giving Ryan a 24-21 edge with almost 12 minutes left. The Raiders then extended their lead with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Quin Henigan to Braeden Mussett, finishing the contest at 31-21.

Looking forward, Ryan will face Highland Park in the semifinals of the Class 5A Division 1 playoffs, aiming to continue their impressive season. The Raiders demonstrated strong teamwork and determination, coming back from a deficit and showcasing their talent on both sides of the ball.
