New Orleans – In a tough break for the team, Paulson Adebo, cornerback for the New Orleans Saints, was carted off the field during their “Thursday Night Football” game against the Denver Broncos. The incident occurred early in the second quarter when Adebo collided with Broncos running back Javonte Williams while trying to make a tackle. Following the collision, it was clear that Adebo was in pain as he immediately reached for his right leg. Medical personnel from New Orleans quickly responded, applying an air cast on the field.
There was a significant delay as the medical staff tended to Adebo’s injury before he was taken back to the locker room on a cart. Later in the broadcast, it was reported that he was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. After the game, Saints head coach Dennis Allen confirmed that Adebo had suffered a broken femur, which is known for being the longest and strongest bone in the human body. Allen mentioned that surgery was expected later that night to address the injury.
According to medical experts, a broken femur can take between four to six months to heal, with some patients able to resume certain activities before fully recovering. However, for Adebo, this means his season is officially over. Previous studies indicate that many athletes can return to their previous level of performance after suffering a femoral fracture, but it typically takes an average of nine and a half months for them to make a comeback.
In an unfortunate twist, the Saints lost both of their starting cornerbacks during the game. After Adebo’s injury in the second quarter, cornerback Marshon Lattimore was also ruled out due to a hamstring injury late in the third quarter. With these injuries, rookie cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry will step up as the primary backup for Lattimore, while third-year player Alontae Taylor will back up Adebo. The roster also includes undrafted rookie Rico Payton, who saw limited action prior to this game.
Before leaving the game, Adebo had made six total tackles, three of which were solo. He had been having a strong season, recording three interceptions and leading the league with ten passes defended through six games.
