New Jersey High School Football Playoff Brackets Announced

The excitement is building in New Jersey as the 2024 high school football playoff brackets have been officially set. This announcement came late Saturday night, following the release of the final United Power Rankings. The brackets will become official on Sunday, and teams are now preparing for the playoffs to kick off on Friday, Nov. 1.

This year, the public school playoffs will feature a series of matchups, with eight sections of teams battling it out for a shot at the title. Each game will be hosted by the higher seed, except for the state finals. Those high-stakes matchups are scheduled to take place at the iconic MetLife Stadium on Nov. 29, while Rutgers’ SHI Stadium will host the finals on Dec. 1 and Dec. 4.

Among the highlighted first-round matchups for the public-school playoffs are:

  • (8) Weehawken at (1) Butler
  • (5) Pompton Lakes at (4) Glen Ridge
  • (6) Lenape Valley at (3) Mountain Lakes
  • (7) Park Ridge at (2) New Milford
  • (8) Wallkill Valley at (1) Cedar Grove

Additionally, non-public teams get an extra week of regular play, leading into their playoffs starting on Friday, Nov. 8. After all regular-season games conclude, a committee will seed the non-public brackets on Nov. 3.

As the teams gear up for the championship chase, fans are encouraged to mark their calendars for the big dates ahead: Nov. 1-2 for the first round, Nov. 8-9 for the second round, followed by sectional finals on Nov. 15-16, and state semifinals on Nov. 22-23. The anticipation continues to build as teams prepare for what promises to be an exhilarating playoff season.
