Jackson High School Football Game Ends in Chaos
Jackson, Mich. – A Friday night high school football game between Jackson and Haslett ended unexpectedly when a fight broke out inside Withington Stadium. The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. during the game, prompting quick action from officials and security.
According to Kriss Giannetti, the Assistant Superintendent of Communication at Jackson Public Schools, the fight initially started inside the stadium but soon spilled outside as tensions escalated. In response to the situation, shelter in place protocols were implemented, causing the two teams to leave the field. Fans were directed to safety at the north end of the stadium while officers from the Jackson Police Department secured the area.
Despite efforts to restore order, the game was ultimately not resumed, and all spectators, along with the teams, were safely evacuated from the stadium. The final score before the interruption showed Haslett leading Jackson 42-24.
