Philadelphia has made a move to strengthen its roster by signing former Carolina Panthers and Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. to a one-year deal, according to sources close to the team. Marshall, who was a second-round draft pick out of LSU in 2021, spent his first three NFL seasons with the Panthers.
During his time with Carolina, Marshall recorded a total of 64 receptions for 767 yards and only one touchdown. His best season came in 2022, where he made 28 catches for 490 yards and his lone touchdown. After being released by the Panthers following last year’s training camp, he joined the San Francisco 49ers practice squad. He remained there from August to October but did not see any game action before being released.
Shortly after, the Raiders signed him to their practice squad, and he was elevated to the active roster twice. However, his time with the Raiders was limited to just seven games, during which he managed to grab three catches for 41 yards on six targets. This brings us to his latest chapter with the Eagles, where he joins a talented group of receivers led by A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.
As Marshall steps into this new role, it’s important to note that he will likely be filling out the depth chart rather than being a focal point in the passing game. The Eagles have a strong emphasis on a run-heavy offense and a concentrated passing game, which makes it challenging for new additions to carve out significant roles. With Jahan Dotson and 2024 draft picks like Johnny Wilson and Ainias Smith competing for positions, it will be interesting to see how Marshall performs in training camp.
Fans will be watching keenly to see if Marshall can turn his career around and make an impact with the Eagles.
