Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott Aim High for 2025
Dallas, Texas – As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for the upcoming season, quarterback Dak Prescott is already making bold claims about the team’s potential, despite the absence of top defensive player Micah Parsons. In a recent interaction caught on camera, Prescott expressed confidence to Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke, declaring, “We’ll meet y’all in the NFC Championship,” hinting at a hopeful matchup later in the year. This conversation brought smiles to the faces of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and executive vice president Stephen Jones.
However, the road to the NFC Championship is a tough one for the Cowboys. Last year, the team struggled with a disappointing 7-10 record, and Prescott missed the second half of the season due to a hamstring injury. Now that he’s back, there are still numerous questions regarding the roster. Most notably, the ongoing situation with Parsons has raised eyebrows. As one of the top edge rushers in the league, Parsons is currently holding out of practice after requesting a trade, which complicates the Cowboys’ season preparation.
Beyond the drama surrounding Parsons, the Cowboys did not make drastic changes this offseason, apart from acquiring wide receiver George Pickens in a trade. They also moved on from head coach Mike McCarthy, promoting offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to lead the team for the first time.
On the flip side, the Rams are entering the season with a fresh energy after nearly reaching the NFC Championship last year. They fell just short in the divisional round against the Philadelphia Eagles, losing 26-22 while on the Eagles’ 13-yard line in the closing moments. This offseason, Los Angeles has made strategic signings, adding star wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive tackle Poona Ford. The Rams not only showed determination last season, but they also boast a young, talented roster that has made the playoffs for two consecutive years.
As for the Cowboys, they have the longest current NFC Championship Game drought, not having appeared since 1996. Oddsmakers reflect the uncertainty, placing the Cowboys with the 10th-best odds to win the NFC at +2200, while the Rams hold the sixth-best odds at +1000. The upcoming season holds promise and challenges, and only time will tell if Prescott’s predictions will ring true.
