Oxnard, CA – Dallas Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton is adjusting to life in a new uniform after being acquired from the New England Patriots earlier this offseason. With the 2025 season approaching, Milton has been taking part in training camp, and so far, he’s impressed with the atmosphere around his new team.
During a recent training camp session, Milton emphasized how positive the Cowboys’ locker room is, particularly praising starting quarterback Dak Prescott. “Dak is a great leader. All respect to him,” Milton said, noting how Prescott goes out of his way to help him during meetings. “I’ve been in another building. I know how that goes. It’s just very different over here,” he added, hinting at a more supportive environment compared to his time with the Patriots.
Milton was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft but saw limited action during his rookie season, appearing in just one game where he completed 22-of-29 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown. Despite the lack of playing time, there’s a general belief in Milton’s potential as he steps in behind Prescott on the Cowboys’ depth chart.
The Cowboys are hoping for a healthy season from Prescott, who struggled with injuries in 2024 and was only able to play in eight games. With Milton now on board as the backup and Will Grier slated as QB3, the team looks to bolster their quarterback situation heading into the new season.
As training camp progresses, the Cowboys and their fans are undoubtedly eager to see how Milton develops and potentially impacts the team. With the franchise seeking to return to the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1995, having solid depth at the quarterback position could prove crucial.
