With the talent on display, it’s time to show some love to our standout performers for the week of September 15-20. Don’t forget to cast your votes for the Athlete of the Week before the polls close this Wednesday at 5 PM!

How to Vote

Voting for your favorite athlete is easy-peasy! You can vote as many times as you like until the poll closes, but keep in mind that any votes submitted after the deadline won’t make the cut. You’ll need to cast your votes online since email voting is a no-go. The winners will be announced every Friday, and you can find their names shining bright both online and in print!

Nominees for Athlete of the Week

  • McKenzie Anderson – James Logan Volleyball: This star player had an impressive week with 13 kills and 3 digs in a solid win against Irvington and followed up with 19 kills and 15 digs to help her team overcome Mission San Jose. McKenzie is leading Logan with a fantastic record of 4-0 in the Mission Valley Athletic League!
  • Brooke Cannan – Los Gatos Water Polo: Brooke sure made a splash last week! She scored 5 goals and had 5 steals in a thrilling 11-9 win against Castilleja. In a close 10-9 loss to Willow Glen, she continued to fight hard, contributing 4 goals, 2 assists, and 3 steals.
  • Paige Gravendaal Chase – College Park Water Polo: Paige dominated the pool, scoring 8 goals in a 15-8 victory over Bishop O’Dowd. With her help, the Falcons are boasting an impressive 9-1 record!
  • Elise Chen – Menlo School Tennis: Elise went all out at the Point Loma Invitational, achieving an outstanding 4-0 in singles matches. Her performance was pivotal in securing Menlo’s well-deserved tournament win—an inspirational feat for a Northern California team!
  • Ella Del Rosario – Acalanes Water Polo: Talk about a goal machine! Ella scored 4 goals and assisted in another win over Davis, followed by 3 goals in a strong 13-1 victory against Granite Bay. She also delivered a stunning 5 goals in victories against Monte Vista and Arroyo Grande!
  • Bren David – Milpitas Flag Football: Bren is on fire! She led her team to two incredible wins with a whopping 211 yards and 2 touchdowns against Riordan, and later finished with 147 yards and 3 touchdowns against Sacred Heart Prep. What a way to lead!
  • Natalie DaSilva – Santa Clara Field Hockey: Natalie made jaws drop with her 32 saves last week, including an outstanding 20 saves against Los Gatos. She earned high praise from her coach for being the best player on the field!
  • Camryn Gutierrez – Hillsdale Water Polo: Camryn is a true team player with 8 assists and 4 steals in Hillsdale’s victory over Mercy, helping their record improve to a commendable 2-0 in league play.
  • Marin Lnenicka – Granada Flag Football: Marin shined with 4 catches for 87 yards and 3 touchdown receptions in a 27-7 win over Carondelet. On top of that, she showcased her defensive skills with 3 tackles and an interception!
  • Natalie Miyamoto – Hercules Flag Football: Rounding out our nominees is Natalie, who scored an impressive 5 touchdowns in a 35-6 win over El Cerrito. Her game included a spectacular 46-yard touchdown run, along with 144 receiving yards, 8 tackles, and 2 passes broken up.
