WISCONSIN RAPIDS – In a significant development for local high school athletics, Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln varsity football head coach Tony Biolo announced his retirement on Thursday morning after an impressive 22 seasons leading the program. This decision marks the end of a notable chapter for both Biolo and the Red Raiders football team.

Coach Biolo first joined the Rapids Lincoln football program in 2003, stepping into the head coach role after serving as an assistant for 11 years. Over his two decades of service, he achieved a commendable record of 100 wins while guiding the team to four conference championships in 2011, 2017, 2021, and 2022.

Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools Superintendent Ron Rasmussen praised Biolo’s dedication, stating, “It is a professional honor and a personal privilege to recognize Coach Tony Biolo for his remarkable dedication and leadership.” He added the impact Biolo had on generations of student-athletes went beyond just football, emphasizing the importance of developing values and morals.

During his tenure, Biolo also led the Red Raiders to fantastic state appearances in 2005 and 2011. He was actively involved with the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association and played a key role in improving the safety facilities at WoodTrust Bank Field as well as hosting the WIAA 8-Man Football State Championship.

“His commitment to excellence extends far beyond the field—instilling discipline, teamwork, and integrity in every player who has had the privilege of wearing our school’s jersey,” Rasmussen reflected. Coach Biolo’s departure leaves behind a legacy of goodwill and progress for football in Wisconsin Rapids. The community will undoubtedly feel his absence as they begin the transition to a new head coach.
