Pipestone, Minnesota – A total of seven players from the Pipestone Area Schools (PAS) football team have been recognized with honors in the Silver Subdistrict for their outstanding performance this season. The recognition comes after the team finished with an impressive 7-3 record, showcasing strong defensive capabilities by allowing only 188 points across ten games. The accolades were decided by a vote from the subdistrict coaches, as reported by PAS head coach Scott Boomgaarden.
Two players were awarded first-team honors, including Cayden Zephier, who excelled in multiple roles as a wide receiver and cornerback. Zephier was a standout performer, racking up 655 receiving yards and making crucial interceptions during playoff games. He scored a total of eight touchdowns this season, holding the highest average of 25.2 yards per catch.
Tagon Woelber, also a key contributor, stood out as a natural athlete. He had a total of five interceptions and made 33 receptions for 387 yards and another five touchdowns. His significant plays often came at critical moments in the game, proving vital to the team’s success.
Another notable mention, Bentley Pater, although his season was disrupted due to injury, was recognized for his leadership on and off the field. He made 58 tackles before his injury and was praised for his hard work and determination.
Junior Austin Musch played multiple positions, having stepped in as quarterback during crucial games. He proved to be a dual threat by accumulating both passing yards and receptions and making key contributions on the defensive side.
Xavier Banjoko earned recognition for his exceptional tackling ability, leading the team with 145 tackle points. Meanwhile, seniors Landon Quist and Connor Wagner received honorable mentions for their vital contributions throughout the season.
The Pipestone Area Arrows showed remarkable teamwork and skill, with their defense particularly noted for its impressive performance throughout the regular season. Coach Boomgaarden commended all the players for their hard work and determination, saying, “All of our kids had some really good years.”
