Minot, North Dakota – The Minot State University (MSU) men’s basketball team is celebrating a significant achievement this week as they have been ranked No. 13 in the latest NABC Top 25 poll. This marks the first time in the program’s NCAA Division II history that the Beavers have reached such a high rank. The team is currently undefeated with an impressive record of 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the NSIC.
The Beavers soared in the rankings after a successful home weekend, where they secured a dominant 91-58 victory over St. Cloud State on Friday, followed by a tightened 81-79 win against Bemidji State on Saturday. The rise to No. 13 follows their debut in the NCAA Top 25 last season when they peaked at No. 16, and they had also been ranked No. 20 just a week ago.
As the team continues to impress, they will face a crucial matchup on Wednesday. They are set to take on their rival Mary in another Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) contest in Bismarck, with the game starting at 7:30 p.m. MSU’s women’s team kicks off the evening at 5:30 p.m..
In addition to Minot State, Minnesota State Moorhead is the only other NSIC team to be ranked, currently sitting at No. 6 in the nation. The top four spots in this week’s poll remained the same, with Nova Southeastern (Fla.) holding the top position followed by West Texas A&M, Washburn (Kan.), and West Liberty (W.V.).
Fans of the Beavers are excited about this historic milestone and are looking forward to seeing how the team performs in the upcoming games.
