Week 9 High School Football Results in Metro Detroit
This past week marked an exciting round of high school football in Metro Detroit, as several teams showcased their talent on the field. The results saw both dominant performances and tightly contested matches.
At Detroit Denby, the team delivered a resounding victory against Melvindale Academy for Business & Tech, finishing the game 56-12. Standout player Chris Hendricks was particularly impressive, rushing for an astonishing 311 yards and scoring three touchdowns. Teammate Shawntez Bouey Jr also made his mark with 150 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Marquan Kennedy and Robert Davis combined for an impressive twelve tackles for loss, which helped Denby secure their position at 6-3 and 5-0 in the DPSL Gold division, while Melvindale wraps up their season at 3-6.
In another thrilling game, Detroit Pershing triumphed over Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood with a score of 52-29. Jalen Foster-Iathan led the charge with 267 passing yards, 80 rushing yards, and a total of five touchdowns, while teammate Deijhone Patterson contributed with 180 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Pershing’s record improves to 7-2 for the season.
Meanwhile, Harper Woods dominated Detroit East English with a shutout, scoring 49-0. Donald Adams dazzled fans by scoring two touchdowns, supported by other players like Donovan Phillips and Bryan Weatherspoon who added one touchdown each to the scoreline. Harper Woods finished the week with a record of 6-3.
Other notable games included Garden City‘s victory over Detroit Cody with a score of 28-13, and Riverview defeating Monroe 43-24, where Nathan Pinkava shone with three touchdowns and a range of impressive plays.
