Ruston, Louisiana – The excitement in Louisiana high school football continues to build as the latest rankings have been released. The Ruston Bearcats, who were the reigning champions in Division I nonselect, experienced a setback last week. They faced off against their District 2-5A rival Neville and lost a tight match, ending their season at the top after previously defeating notable Texas programs.
As it stands, the current top team in Division I select is Warren Easton, who have a record of 3-4. In their recent match, they managed to defeat a determined Jesuit squad 21-9, with quarterback John Johnson throwing three touchdown passes to three different receivers.
Meanwhile, the Bearcats, now with a record of 6-1, were recently defeated by Neville with a score of 26-21. In that game, Joshua Brantley, a Tulane quarterback commit, showcased his skills with two touchdowns, while Aidan Anding, an LSU cornerback commit, intercepted a pass.
Other notable performances included the Wreckin’ Rams who dominated Lafayette High with a convincing score of 55-10, led by quarterback Caden DiBetta, who set a school record for passing and threw four touchdown passes. In addition, the Skippers took down Hammond with a final score of 41-19, highlighting the talent of Duke commit Nate Sheppard who rushed for two touchdowns.
