Carlynton, seeded 9th, faced off against the formidable number one seed, Sewickley Academy, at the Quaker Valley High School. The game was a nail-biter, ending in a 2-0 loss for Carlynton. The standout player for Sewickley was Emelia Carrabba, who struck first, finding the back of the net about 15 minutes before the final whistle. To seal the deal, Mackenzie Dice added a second goal, sealing Carlynton’s fate in the tournament.

OLSH’s season wrapped up with a record of 8 wins, 7 losses, and 1 tie. They had a strong showing in the earlier playoff rounds, knocking off Aquinas Academy before succumbing to Bentworth.

Excitement Elsewhere in High School Sports

Class 3A playoffs. They’re coming off a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Shaler and are riding a wave of momentum into their upcoming game at 8 p.m. on Monday.

Over in football, the Bishop Canevin football team is enjoying a successful season as well. They secured the No. 3 seed in the Class 1A playoffs after finishing the regular season with an impressive 7-3 record, including a strong 5-1 performance in the Black Hills Conference. They’ll face the No. 14 seed Greensburg Central Catholic at home on Friday at Dormont Stadium.

In a recent game against Burgettstown, which ended with a 1-8 record for the season, Myontae Mott had an electrifying performance, scoring two touchdowns, while teammate Thomas Coates caught two touchdown passes, contributing to the team’s triumphant march to the playoffs.

Moon’s Hockey Triumph
