In the charming town of Bucksport, excitement filled the air as the local high school soccer teams celebrated Senior Day with memorable matches against Penobscot Valley. The girls’ team kicked things off with a showdown where they sought a much-needed victory but faced an uphill battle.

Girls’ Match: A Heartfelt Tribute Turned Into a Tough Loss

Before the start of the game, Bucksport High honored its senior girls’ soccer players, cherishing their contributions to the team throughout the years. However, the festive atmosphere soon transformed into a competition as the girls from Penobscot Valley showed their determination on the field.

Previously, on October 7, Penobscot Valley had narrowly edged out Bucksport with a 1-0 victory in overtime, despite the Bucksport team putting on a strong performance. This time, the Howlers came back ready to claim another win and did just that, finishing the match with a resounding 3-0 victory.

The highlight of the game was undoubtedly senior forward Rylee Moulton, who stole the show with an impressive two-goal performance just minutes into the second half. Moulton struck first six minutes in, showcasing her skill from the right side of the penalty area, striking effectively past the Bucksport defense. She didn’t stop there! Just a little over four minutes later, Moulton scored again, this time with a fantastic header off a corner kick taken by her teammate, Lila Cummings. Fans and teammates alike were in awe, with many calling it one of the best goals witnessed in recent years.

As the game rolled on, Penobscot Valley solidified their victory with an additional goal from Lilly Hallett, who scored with just over seven minutes left in the match. Hallett, too, benefited from Cummings’ impressive corner kick, rounding off a superb day at the stadium.

Despite the setback, Bucksport’s defense put forth a commendable effort, with goalkeeper Addison Fitch making five crucial saves during the match. The first half ended scoreless, thanks to the strong defenses on both sides, with Penobscot’s Brooklyn Raymond leading the charge with eight spectacular saves.
