Kansas High School Football Rankings Released for Week 4

The city of Derby continues to shine in the latest Kansas high school football rankings for the 2024 season. After another impressive week, Derby remains at the top of the heap with a perfect 3-0 record. Last Friday, they scored a remarkable 59-7 victory against Salina South, who is still searching for their first win this season.

Following Derby in the rankings is Gardner-Edgerton at number two, also boasting a 3-0 record, following a close 28-27 win against Shawnee Mission Northwest. Gardner-Edgerton will face number nine Lawrence, who suffered a 42-34 loss to Olathe North last week, this Friday.

Third place belongs to Manhattan, who also sits at 3-0 after squeezing out a 34-30 win against 5A’s number ten Hays. They are preparing for a showdown at Junction City, another team looking to improve on a 1-2 record.

In fourth place are Blue Valley Northwest, jumping up from fifth after their narrow 27-24 win against St. James Academy. They’ll look to solidify their ranking with a match against Washburn Rural this week.

Rounding out the top five are Wichita Northwest, who were able to defeat Junction City with a score of 43-30. This week, they’ll need to keep their winning streak alive against 4A’s number three, Kapaun Mt. Carmel, who is also unbeaten at 3-0.

Meanwhile, teams like Shawnee Mission Northwest and Olathe North are starting to find their rhythms after slow starts, although Olathe North has shown promise with a recent victory. The rankings also highlight Lawrence Free State, who dropped to tenth after a 31-23 loss to Mill Valley, the number one ranked team in 5A football.

As the Kansas high school football season rolls on into Week 4, fans are eagerly anticipating another exciting weekend of games. Teams are starting to find their groove, making it an exciting time for players, coaches, and supporters alike.
