Atlanta – The Detroit Lions faced a troubling moment during their preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night. The game was officially suspended after a serious injury to Lions safety Morice Norris Jr. Norris, a 24-year-old player, was injured in a frightening hit to his head and neck area. He was quickly immobilized and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

Fans and players alike breathed a sigh of relief when the Lions announced that Norris has feeling and movement in all his extremities and is in stable condition. Coach Dan Campbell shared his concern for Norris with reporters, saying, “Thoughts and prayers are with Mo Norris. We got some positive information on him, that he’s at the hospital. When something like that happens, it puts things into perspective.” He later confirmed that Norris was able to speak and show signs of movement.

The game was suspended at 9:35 p.m. ET with 6:19 remaining in the fourth quarter. At the time of the suspension, the Lions were leading the Falcons 17-10. Players from both teams gathered on the field in support of Norris, showing unity amidst the frightening circumstances.

Norris was an undrafted free agent who joined the Lions in the spring of 2024 and has played in two games last season, making three tackles in the game on Friday night before his injury.
