In a continuation of a whirlwind summer for residents of Jacksonville, Florida, former Iowa football quarterback James Resar announced Tuesday evening that he has re-entered his name into the transfer portal for the second time. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 212 pounds, Resar signed with the Hawkeyes as part of the 2024 recruiting class and was considered a highly regarded four-star recruit. According to 247Sports, he ranked as the No. 23 overall player in his class and was also listed as the No. 41 recruit in Florida.

Initially joining Iowa as a quarterback, Resar made the switch to wide receiver. Unfortunately, his transition was marred by a non-contact knee injury, as revealed by Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz. Resar’s first entry into the transfer portal happened in December of last year, after which he committed to UNC-Pembroke on June 4. However, after spending nearly two months with the Braves program, Resar is now on the hunt for yet another team as he looks to secure a spot for the upcoming season.

In addition to his football skills, Resar showed great talent as a track athlete during his high school years, earning four varsity letters in track and clinching the title of 100-meter district champion with an impressive personal best of 10.67 seconds.

As per the latest rankings from 247Sports, Resar is currently listed as the No. 58 available quarterback and the No. 807 player overall in the transfer portal. No matter where he ends up, the former Hawkeye still holds four years of NCAA eligibility to pursue his college football career.
