Las Vegas is making big moves as the Raiders have signed left tackle Kolton Miller to a three-year contract extension worth $66 million. The announcement came on Wednesday evening, securing Miller’s place as a long-term part of the team’s plans. Out of that total, $42.5 million is guaranteed, with almost $43 million set to be paid out over the first two seasons. With an average salary of $22 million per year, Miller is now among the top 10 highest-paid left tackles in the NFL.

This deal comes as Miller was entering the final year of his prior contract and had skipped the voluntary offseason program. However, he reported for all mandatory activities and is now ready to start training camp. Selected as the 15th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Miller has consistently been a starter for the team, even as they transitioned from Oakland to Las Vegas and experienced several changes in coaching staff. Currently, he’s playing under his fourth head coach.

Over his career, the 6-foot-8, 325-pound tackle has shown strong durability, participating in 109 games and making 107 starts. He only missed four games last season due to a shoulder issue, but his performance has been largely impressive. He earned an 80.6 overall PFF grade for the 2024 season, placing him 14th among offensive tackles. His 82.2 pass-blocking grade was 11th overall, indicating considerable skill in protecting the quarterback.

While the Raiders look to improve on their playoff drought that has seen only two appearances since 2002, Miller’s skill set will be crucial, particularly as he blocks for new quarterback Geno Smith and promising rookie running back Ashton Jeanty. The team’s strategy moving forward will depend heavily on their ability to keep their offensive line intact and performing well.

In other NFL news, the Bengals’ pass rusher Trey Hendrickson ended his brief holdout and joined training camp to reduce distractions for the team. The Seahawks have also extended their general manager John Schneider through 2031. Meanwhile, the Ravens will face a setback as tight end Isaiah Likely is expected to miss around six weeks due to foot surgery.

As the NFL gears up for the season, teams are focused on fine-tuning their rosters and solidifying their strategies. Fans are eager to see how these moves play out on the field.
