Changes Coming for 2025 High School Football Season

As we’re getting all amped up about summer sports, let’s take a moment to talk football! The Michigan High School Athletic Association has announced some changes coming for the 2025 high school football season. This means schools will be divided into new divisions based on enrollment size, and there will be roughly 63 teams in each division.

In total, 64 schools will be changing divisions next season. This change includes seven schools from Detroit and Warren De La Salle. Among the exciting moves, four schools have opted to step up a division:

  • Jackson Lumen Christi, the reigning three-time state champion, will continue to battle it out in Division 6.
  • Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, the defending Division 2 champ, will hold its ground in Division 2.
