Chicago Bears Make Key Roster Moves

The Chicago Bears have been busy over the last week, making several significant transactions to bolster their roster. On Saturday, the team placed a focus on its future by signing its three second-round picks from the 2025 NFL Draft: wide receiver Luther Burden III, offensive lineman Ozzy Trapilo, and defensive lineman Shemar Turner. This move marks an important step in strengthening the team and gearing up for the upcoming season.

In a move to secure their offensive line, the Bears have also signed veteran offensive lineman Joe Thuney to a two-year contract extension that keeps him with the team through 2027. This extension is a positive sign for the Bears, as Thuney brings valuable experience and skill to the squad.

Earlier this week, the Bears added more depth to their roster by signing a new defensive back, Jeremiah Walker, while placing an international roster exemption on punter Tory Taylor. Additionally, on Thursday, the team signed five more players from the 2025 NFL Draft, including tight end Colston Loveland and linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II, which shows the Bears’ ongoing commitment to building a competitive roster.

The Bears have also made strides with their existing players. Veteran linebacker T.J. Edwards received a two-year extension through 2027, while defensive back Kyler Gordon signed a three-year extension that will keep him with the team until 2028. This indicates the Bears’ desire to maintain a strong defensive presence as the offseason progresses.

For added depth, Chicago signed veteran defensive back Nahshon Wright to a one-year contract, who recently spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and previously played for the Dallas Cowboys. Also on Monday, the Bears agreed to terms with Restricted Free Agent defensive lineman Chris Williams, along with four Exclusive Rights Free Agents that include defensive linemen Jonathan Ford and Daniel Hardy.

Finally, the Bears added experience at quarterback by signing Case Keenum to a one-year deal. Keenum’s experience will be valuable as he competes for the backup role, giving the Bears a reliable option under center.

As Chicago continues to enhance its roster leading up to the rookie minicamp, fans are hopeful for a successful season ahead.
