Casper, WY – The excitement is building in Wyoming as local golfers prepare to take on the 2025 PGA Boys’ High School Golf National Invitational at the renowned Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in North Carolina! Scheduled for July 20-22, this prestigious event promises to be an exciting showcase for young talent from all corners of the nation.
What’s in Store at Pinehurst?
The tournament features an exhilarating 54-hole competition played across the scenic and challenging courses of Pinehurst’s No. 5, No. 6, and No. 8. Golfers will need to bring their A-game, as the competition is sure to be fierce.
Wyoming’s Strong Representation
Wyoming is stepping up big time, sending two talented teams along with a total of 11 players to represent the state in this prestigious tournament. Wheatland, the reigning 2024 Class 3A state champion, is making its mark with five top-notch players taking to the green: Isaac CdeBaca, Jacob Miller, Dylan Nelson, Tate Nichols, and Brecken Sandlian. This winning squad is eager to showcase their talent on a national stage!
Not to be outdone, Campbell County, the 2024 Class 4A state champion, is also sending five of its best: Jaxon Burr, Jackson Evans, Drew Gemar, Jackson Laakso, and Cade Peterson. Team spirit is high, and these young athletes are ready to show everyone what Wyoming has to offer.
Additionally, we have the individual competitor Ryker Lind from Evanston, who’s made waves as the 2024 Class 4A individual state champion. His passion and determination will undoubtedly make him a player to watch!
Looking Back – A Strong Performance by Past Competitors
It’s hard to forget the impressive finish by former Wyoming player Parker Paxton, who tied for seventh place in the 2022 tournament, finishing at an impressive 2-under par. That’s a benchmark for the current players to aim for!
Girls Tournament Recap
Switching gears, earlier in the week, Wyoming’s girls had their shot at competing in the same prestigious setting. Tazlyn Wagner from Kemmerer and Jordyn Horsley from Star Valley represented the state, with both giving it their all! Tazlyn finished in 31st place, moving up three spots in her last round to end at 8-over par. Jordyn, while placing 131st at 41-over par, demonstrated grit and determination throughout the competition.
The girls’ tournament ran from July 14-16, featuring 202 golfers in total, a competitive field that included five golfers who withdrew or did not start. It was a remarkable week filled with talent!
Upcoming Events on the Horizon
Looking ahead, summer is buzzing with more golf events! Golfers can anticipate competing in the Girls’ Junior Americas Cup in Phoenix, AZ, from July 22-24, 2025, followed by the Boys’ Junior Americas Cup in Portland, OR, set for July 29-31, 2025.
