That’s right, folks! It’s hard to believe that this fantastic program began way back in 1925 in South Dakota. Here in Kirkwood, we’ve had our Legion team since the early 1950s, making it a long-standing tradition that has brought joy to countless players and fans over the years.

A Team Like No Other

The Kirkwood Legion Post 156 baseball team is a uniquely local affair, made up of talented players from several high schools including Webster Groves, Kirkwood, Priory, Mehlville, Oakville, and even St. Louis University. This year’s roster features a mix of rising seniors and recent graduates, all ready to lace up their cleats and have some fun on the field.

One player to keep an eye on is Nicholas Copeland, who just graduated from Kirkwood High. He was raring to go during a game on June 9, showcasing the talent and determination that these young athletes bring to the game. Add to that the leadership of Coach Chris Copeland, who not only serves as the head coach for the Post 156 19U team but also wears another hat as the president of the baseball program. His passion for the game is evident, having coached many of these players since they were just six years old.
