Pittsburgh – This season with the Pittsburgh Steelers will likely mark the final chapter of Aaron Rodgers’ illustrious NFL career. In a recent interview on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the veteran quarterback shared that he is “pretty sure” the 2025 season will be his last in professional football. “Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is it,” said the 41-year-old.
Rodgers spent the first 18 years of his career with the Green Bay Packers, where he became a four-time NFL MVP and franchise leader in several categories, including touchdown passes and passer rating. After signing a one-year, $13.65 million deal with the Steelers, he aims to finish his career on a high note with a franchise that has a rich history and traditions of success under head coach Mike Tomlin.
Hailing his time in the NFL, Rodgers remarked, “I played 20 fricking years. It’s been a long run. I’ve enjoyed it, and no better place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL.” He also mentioned he didn’t feel a strong urge to change any earlier decisions, stating, “It’s not really ‘[I] can’t go out like this.’ I love the game.”
This past season was tumultuous for Rodgers, as he suffered an Achilles injury just a few snaps into the year with the New York Jets, culminating in a 5-12 record and a missed playoff run. Now with the Steelers, he looks forward to competing once again, with the team set to face the Jets in their season opener on September 7.
Beyond football, Rodgers also touched on his personal life, expressing frustration over public interest in it. He confirmed he had recently married, but opted to keep his wife’s identity private. “My private life is my private life,” he said. “and it’s going to stay that way.” He emphasized the importance of privacy, especially for those close to him who haven’t chosen a public life.
As training camp approaches, Rodgers remains optimistic about the upcoming season. He’s enthusiastic about working with his teammates and has already started team workouts with plans for a training session in Malibu, California. As he gears up for his final season, fans hope to see the best of what the veteran quarterback has to offer.
