With the coaching prowess of Dave Swartout at the helm, the Titans swung their way into history at The Meadows Golf Course, tucked away on the Grand Valley State University campus.
Victory Lap
The Titans completed the championship with a two-day total of 626, overcoming fierce competition from 17 other teams in the Division 3 championship. Their remarkable performance saw them outshine the defending champions, St. Francis, by a significant margin of 13 strokes. Talk about a swinging success!
Standout Players Shine
While the entire squad contributed to this incredible win, a few players stood out. Brandon Kulka was a shining star, finishing third overall with an impressive score of 152. Charlie Saunders wasn’t far behind, securing a spot in the top ten with a solid score of 155, taking home a prestigious medal for his performance. Other notable scores came from Gabe Cooper at 159, Adam Fuller at 163, and Anthony Kulka at 168 as they played their hearts out on the greens.
Competitors Make Their Mark
In addition to Lumen Christi’s stellar performance, we also saw some great efforts from individual competitors. Hoyt Wrona from Hanover-Horton finished the Division 3 tournament with a score of 170. It’s always exciting to watch young talent shine in such competitive settings!

Unsurprisingly, Coach Dave Swartout has solidified his legacy in the world of golf coaching, now amassing an astounding total of 18 state titles. This tally includes not only boys’ golf but also two in girls’ golf. His leadership and dedication have certainly inspired the Titans to greatness.
Other Local Schools Compete
While Lumen Christi was basking in their well-deserved glory, other local schools were also on the course making their mark. At Bedford Valley, Western High School faced a tough challenge, finishing in 14th place in Division 2 with a combined score of 655. Andrew Boldt led the effort for Western with a total of 155, tying for 28th place individually. Other contributors included Hayden Kim (163), Eli Herrington (166), Tony Miller (173), and Sutton Johnson (176).
Jackson’s Players on the Rise
The competition didn’t stop there! Individual qualifier Brayden Norton from Jackson also wowed the audience with a score of 155 tying for the same 28th place as Boldt, while his teammate Leo Nguyen rounded out the day with a score of 160 to finish in 52nd place.
A Look at Jackson Christian
And we can’t forget about Jackson Christian, who took to the Katke Golf Course for the Division 4 competition. They finished 15th as a team with a total score of 724. Aidan Earnst was the top finisher for Jackson Christian, placing 28th overall with a score of 167. Other team scores included Nate Locke (181), J.D. Locke (191), Anderson Jacobs (192), and Christian Guerrero (198).
Lucas Schwartz from Grass Lake also showcased his skills as an individual qualifier, finishing 56th with a score of 176.
