Earlier this week, on a bright Tuesday morning, the CovCath team showed what they are made of by clinching two impressive victories and advancing to the semifinals of the boys state team tournament. The first match saw them triumph over Louisville St. Xavier with a robust score of 3-1. This victory was quickly followed by a remarkable 3-0 win against Central Hardin. Now, all eyes are on the semifinals, which will be held at the University of Kentucky tennis complex on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m.. CovCath will be squaring off against North Oldham, while Owensboro Catholic takes on Lexington Dunbar in the other semifinal match. Over in the girls state team tournament, it wasn’t as smooth sailing for the Notre Dame tennis team. They faced a tough opponent in Greenwood and ended up losing 3-0 in the quarterfinals. After winning the first two singles matches, Greenwood capped off their victory with a win in No. 1 doubles against Notre Dame. However, prior to this, Notre Dame had a fantastic opening round, defeating Johnson Central 3-0 with strong performances from players like Lila Harris, Grace Summer, Taylor Maynard, Eva Tully, and Malia Christensen.
