Buffalo is buzzing this week with the Buffalo Bills set to kick off three voluntary OTAs practices. However, the status of their star quarterback, Josh Allen, remains uncertain. As rumors swirl about his upcoming wedding, fans are left wondering if the $330 million man will make an appearance.
According to reports, Allen is expected to marry actress Hailee Steinfeld on May 31. The news came to light when Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins accidentally revealed the wedding date during a recent appearance on a sports program. However, when questioned further, Dawkins was vague about the details, leaving fans in suspense.
This past week, as part of the team’s Phase 2 activities, Allen was notably absent from the facility. Although he was present for the start of OTAs back in April, sightings have been scarce since then. It was also anticipated that he would appear on a national morning show during the NFL’s schedule release week, but that opportunity did not materialize.
If the wedding is indeed taking place this Saturday, it seems unlikely Allen will participate in the OTAs this week. Looking ahead, the Bills have additional practices lined up for June 2, 3, and 5, followed by a mandatory veteran minicamp from June 10-12.
It’s been an eventful offseason for Allen, who has transitioned from last season’s playoff loss to securing both his first MVP award and a hefty six-year contract. In addition, he celebrated his 29th birthday on May 21 and saw his fiancée’s latest movie premiere perform well at the box office.
Meanwhile, running back James Cook has yet to show up for OTAs as he navigates his own negotiations for a possible contract extension. The former second-round draft pick is hoping for a deal worth at least $15 million per year as he approaches the final year of his rookie contract and may skip voluntary workouts due to this situation.
As the Bills prepare for their practices ahead, all eyes will be on whether their franchise quarterback will choose to join or focus on personal matters this week.
