Here in Vermont, the high school fall playoff season is officially underway, and if the first set of matches is anything to go by, we are in for a thrilling few weeks ahead! From nail-biting soccer matches to intense volleyball showdowns, this year’s playoffs are all about excitement, teamwork, and unforgettable moments.
Soccer Results Are In!
Soccer kicked off with some incredible performances that left fans buzzing. The standout match of the day saw No. 8 Milton take down No. 9 Harwood with a score of 2-0. Emma Osman and Peyton Beaumier each scored a goal, while Katelynn Lang shone brightly in goal with four saves!
Over at Colchester, the No. 7 team pulled off a close 3-2 victory against No. 10 Burr and Burton. Brinlee Gilfillan was a star with one goal and two assists, leading her team to success. They did not have it easy, as they faced strong competition with Robin Tashjian scoring for Burr and Burton.
Meanwhile, No. 4 Lamoille enjoyed a solid win against No. 13 Green Mountain Valley, taking the match 3-1. Harper Fisher, Nina Rossi, and Emmelia Whittemore each netted a goal, ensuring their team moved forward in the tournament.
No. 3 U-32 kept the momentum going with a convincing 3-0 win over No. 14 Middlebury, while No. 3 Mount St. Joseph showed no mercy with a dominant 4-0 victory over No. 14 Sharon. Jada Hughes led the charge with two goals!
Not to be outdone, the No. 4 team from Poultney clinched a narrow 1-0 win against No. 13 Twin Valley, while No. 6 Arlington managed to edge past No. 11 Proctor in a thrilling contest that ended 3-2 – Mia Aldrich shinned as she netted two goals!

The excitement didn’t stop there. Leland & Gray secured a 3-2 overtime win against Caledonia United in a clash that had everyone on the edge of their seats. Young star Lily Litchfield scored two goals to lead her team to victory!
Over in South Burlington, the No. 4 team demonstrated their dominance with a jaw-dropping 13-0 victory against No. 13 Spaulding. Raja Badibanga was simply unstoppable, scoring four times and adding to the team’s impressive tally of goals!
Volleyball Heat!
Shifting gears to volleyball, the intensity continued! In the first round of the tournament, No. 2 BFA-St. Albans swept No. 7 South Burlington in a swift match, winning 3-0. Not to be outdone, No. 9 Vermont Commons took down No. 8 Mount Abraham 3-1, showcasing their skills on the court.
Also, No. 3 Enosburg faced No. 6 Randolph and came out triumphant with a solid 3-0 victory, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
