The Florence varsity girls cross country team has officially claimed the title of district champions! Under the guidance of their amazing coaching duo, Coaches Sabbatha and Jose Pena, along with Coach Aaron Jimenez, these young athletes pulled together to finish in first place. The talented team is made up of remarkable runners: Sophia Koch, Carissa Morrison, Alondra Martinez, Ella Morrison, Sara Koch, Allyson Swanson, and Brooklynn Stanfield. Their victory was not just a win but a testament to their relentless training and unwavering determination.
Strong Showing from Boys Varsity Team
Meanwhile, the Florence varsity boys cross country team also brought their A-game to the championships, finishing strong in second place. Looking at individual performances, keep an eye on Charlie Hollingsworth from Florence, who achieved an outstanding overall individual winning time of 15 minutes, 46.13 seconds in the prestigious Chickasaw Trails meet, leading his team to a commendable third overall position. What a performance!
Another standout was Ella Morrison, who dazzled at the Temple Invitational, clinching her spot with an incredible time of 12 minutes, 59.8 seconds in the Class 1A-4A Division. Other notable finishes from the girls included Alondra Martinez with a time of 15:42, Sophia Koch at 16:27, and Carissa Morrison at 16:44, to name just a few!
On the boys’ side at the same event, Parker Jamison led the pack with a time of 20:10, showcasing his talent and potential. Max Pearson followed close behind at 20:33, and the rest of the team, including August Kuehne and Cristofer Gomez, put forth admirable efforts as well.
