Indianapolis is in shock after hearing the news about former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, who was stabbed last night and is currently hospitalized in critical condition. According to reports, police received a call around 12:30 AM Saturday morning regarding two injured individuals in downtown Indianapolis. One of them was Sanchez, who was in town for a broadcasting job with FOX Sports.
Following the incident, Sanchez was rushed to a local hospital, where medical professionals are providing care. The network released a statement confirming Sanchez’s injuries and stated he is in stable condition. They expressed gratitude towards the medical team, saying, “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department also issued a statement indicating the incident involved two adult males. One suffered lacerations, while Sanchez was reported with stab wounds. Thankfully, it appears that this was an isolated incident and not a random act of violence.
Sanchez, who is now 38 years old, had a notable football career. He played college football at USC from 2005 to 2008, eventually being drafted by the New York Jets as the 5th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. Over a span of 10 seasons in the NFL, he not only made a name for himself on the field but also became a well-known personality off of it, being linked to various high-profile celebrities.
Earlier this year, he got married to his wife Perry, and together they have three children. Sanchez was in Indy to prepare for calling the game between the Colts and the Raiders at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday.
As the investigation continues, the community keeps Sanchez in their thoughts, hoping for a quick recovery.
