Meanwhile, the girls’ team breezed through their race, scoring 42 points, surpassing even the most optimistic expectations. All this from a school known not just for its smarts but now for its remarkable runners too.
The boys’ team display was nothing short of a commanding victory, according to Coach Moeller. It’s not every day a coach can sit back and watch his team dominate the field like this. If the boys were looking for a confidence boost as they approach the latter part of the season, they definitely found it at this race!
Girls Steal the Show
On the girls’ side of things, excitement was palpable as Coach Moeller initially anticipated a top-two finish given their recent rankings. To say he was thrilled with the first place would be an understatement; it was a sweet icing on the cake. The girls’ effort produced several remarkable finishes that had fans cheering from the sidelines.
Sophomore Brooklyn Stone soared to fifth place with a time of 22:45.2 while eighth-grader Delaney Klug wasn’t far behind, finishing seventh in just 23:00.9. The competition was fierce, and the girls continued to show up with grit. Sophomore Avery Steuber snagged a tenth-place finish at 24:29.6, displaying real spirit and tenacity.
A dash towards the finish line awaited Senior Kendra Blomster and Freshman Natalie Griffey, who sprinted neck-and-neck and secured 15th and 16th places with times of 25:06.7 and 25:14.5 respectively. Meanwhile, Junior Feven Hoyer finished 19th at 25:40.9, and eighth-grader Addison Lintelman wrapped up the impressive performance for the girls, coming in at 21st with a time of 25:44.7.
Boys Team Shines Bright
The boys’ team also boasted a lineup that couldn’t be ignored. Eighth-grader Cole Hanson earned a commendable second-place finish clocking in at 17:55.3. Another standout was Senior Cooper Gudahl who came in third with just a couple of seconds added to his clock at 18:00.5. The competition saw Sophomore Devin Hanson finish strong at fifth with 18:34.9.
Freshman Holden Junkermeier continued the string of impressive finishes, wrapping things up in seventh place at 19:20.4, while a commendable effort was put forth by Sophomore Michael Hamlet who finished 12th at 20:20.0.
Rounding out the boys’ performance were Junior Jonas Krist and Junior Leon Yang, finishing 22nd and 23rd with times of 21:13.2 and 21:13.6 respectively. Coach Moeller highlighted not only the team’s impressive finish but also noticed several personal bests among the lads.
