Fans gathered along the sidelines, cheering on their favorite athletes, with one athlete stealing the spotlight in a big way!
Lanee Berkhimer Shines Bright
In what can only be described as a thrilling moment for the Central High School girls’ team, Lanee Berkhimer sprinted her way into the record books with a sensational finish of 18:44. This remarkable achievement means she has broken the longstanding girls’ course record at Central High School! What an incredible day for her and her teammates!
Team Results: Wins and Losses
While Lanee’s record-breaking performance truly stood out, the Central girls’ team faced a mix of fortunes during the meet. They suffered losses against strong competitors, including Bellwood-Antis (50-15) and Bishop McCort (19-17). However, spirits remained high as they managed to clench a win against Bishop Carroll with a nail-biting score of 11-10! Unfortunately, they also faced defeat against Westmont Hilltop (50-15).
In the girls’ race, it was Blake Pennington from Bellwood-Antis finishing in second with a commendable time of 21:43. Meanwhile, Bishop McCort’s Lady Dragons narrowly edged out Central, making the competition fierce and electrifying!

On the boys’ side, Noah Knobloch from Bishop Carroll dominated the race, securing the top spot with an impressive time of 18:06. Central Cambria’s Ethan Haycisak (16:22) and Paige Alexander (20:26) also showed great prowess on the course, each finishing first in their races and leading their team to victories over Bella Fonte and Chestnut Ridge.
