Soccer Highlights
The competition was fierce on the soccer fields this past week! BFA-Fairfax kicked things off with a resounding victory over Paine Mountain, taking the game 4-1. Key highlights from this match include Cailin Macaulay lighting up the scoreboard with 2 goals and 1 assist, while Lily Marshall and Leigh Brown each contributed with a goal of their own. Goalkeepers Lorelei Sloan and Allora Lawton kept it tight at the back with impressive saves.
Mount Mansfield also found success, trouncing Burlington 4-0, thanks to standout performances from Mallory Chicoine and Phoebe Gresham. Hazen had their share of glory, emerging victorious against Winooski with a score of 3-1, where Isabelle Gouin and Taylor Thompson played key roles.
Not to be outdone, Champlain Valley secured a solid win against Colchester with a 3-0 scoreline. Meanwhile, Mount Abraham dominated Middlebury in a commanding 5-0 performance, led by the dynamic duo of Payton Shepard and Mae Cannon. Enosburg enjoyed a clean sheet victory over Caledonia United, stretching the score to 3-0, and Vergennes absolutely overwhelmed Oxbow with a whopping 8-1 win! Last but not least, Windsor showcased their skills with a 2-0 victory against White River Valley. What an exhilarating start to the season!
Volleyball Highlights
Switching gears to volleyball, Enosburg played clean and fierce, defeating Mount Abraham with a straight-set victory of 3-0. The scores for that match were 25-7, 25-20, and 25-11, showcasing an impressive team effort led by Hazel Kane and Colleen Robtoy.
In a similarly convincing fashion, Colchester achieved victory over Lyndon with scores of 25-19, 25-23, and 25-11, driven largely by the talent of Payton Vilmont, who racked up 21 assists. Essex had a bit more of a battle on their hands against BFA-St. Albans, ultimately winning 3-1 with scores of 25-12, 25-20, 17-25, and 25-16, with Hannah Knickerbocker and Reese Gregory also standing out.
Cross-Country Highlights
Over in cross-country, Mount Mansfield showcased their dominance with a team win over Montpelier, defeating them convincingly with a 3-0 match-up.
Golf Highlights
On the fairways, Henry Huggett from South Burlington put on a stunning performance, finishing as the medalist with a score of 39 at Jay Peak. South Burlington’s team also performed well with scores from Huggett, Cody Eagle, Hanz Rozendaal, and Jack Henry. BFA-St. Albans wasn’t far behind, thanks to Tripp Rabtoy and Ethan LaPlume both clocking in with 42s.
