West Hills, get ready to cheer! The annual Red, White & Blue Cross Country Meet at the stunning White Oak Park was abuzz with excitement on September 6, 2025. This year’s event saw three local high schools – Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH), Moon Area, and Montour – put on their running shoes and showcase their remarkable talent against schools from all over.

OLSH Girls Steal the Show

First up, let’s talk about the incredible performance by the OLSH girls’ cross country team, who finished a stellar fourth place out of 21 schools in the Class AA meet. Freshman Jules Goshen led the charge with an impressive eighth place finish, completing the challenging course in just 19 minutes and 40 seconds. Now that’s a time to beat!

Other OLSH girls also made their mark, including Hannah Hayes who finished in 27th place with a time of 20:44, and Eva Crofford coming in just behind her at 29th with a time of 20:53. The team also saw finishes from Charlotte Gauntner in 54th (21:52) and Miri Mosca in 65th (22:18). What a fantastic effort from this young group!

OLSH Boys Make Their Presence Known

On the boys’ side, OLSH also showed their competitive spirit. Senior Brayden Douglass led the squad with a commendable 33rd place finish, timing in at 17:18. Following Brayden were Andre Kolocouris (51st, 17:54), Wes Goshen (68th, 18:17), Jeremy Ye (72nd, 18:24), and Leo Mosca with a time of 19:06. Great job, guys!

Moon Area’s Teams Excel

Switching gears to Moon Area, the girls’ team finished strong in the Class AAA meet, snagging ninth place out of 27 teams with impressive performances. Elise Ashcroft led the way for the girls, placing 10th overall with a time of 18:58. Other notable finishers included Rachel Stepp in 60th (20:37), Madison Puthoff 77th (21:01), Alexis Schuler 81st (21:11), and Gabrielle Spitznagel who rounded it out in 130th (22:34).

The Moon boys team put up a good fight as well, finishing 14th out of 34 teams. Leading the boys was Evan Slawuta, who placed 49th with a time of 17:09, closely followed by teammate Owen Romasco who completed the race in 17:11 for 52nd place. Other finishers were Ryan Slawuta (95th, 17:43.9), Samuel Herrera (99th, 17:48.3), and Ethan Hankinson (108th, 17:52.9). Solid runs from the boys!

Montour Brings Their Best

In a show of local pride, Montour’s girls team finished 22nd in the Class AAA meet, while the boys team wrapped up in 11th place in the Class 2A meet. Notably, Montour’s Tiffany Miller finished 25th in the girls’ event with a time of 19:30.8. On the boys’ side, Andrew Ludwick placed 28th with a time of 17:07.3 and was followed closely by Jacob Chacon (29th, 17:10) and Lucas Benson (36th, 17:27). Great showing, Montour!

Freshman Races Add to the Thrill

Adding to the excitement, the freshmen also took to the track, with Evelyn Cienkowski finishing 26th among 114 participants in the girls’ race, and Jonathan Zarabi leading the way for the boys as he finished 64th out of 152 entries. What an exhilarating start to their high school running careers!

All in all, the Red, White & Blue Cross Country Meet showcased some incredible talent from our local high schools.
