College Football Week 2 Preview: Upset Alerts and Exciting Matchups

This week in college football is sure to bring plenty of excitement as we dive into Week 2 of the 2025 season. Following a thrilling start, which included multiple top-10 matchups and a major upset (then-No. 8 Alabama falling to Florida State), fans are buzzing with anticipation. Will we see another significant upset this week?

One of the key games features the South Florida Bulls traveling to The Swamp to take on the Florida Gators after both teams made strong statements in their opening games. The Bulls shocked the football world with a decisive 34-7 victory over Boise State, while Florida crushed LIU 55-0. USF’s quarterback Byrum Brown is back and looking to capitalize on his earlier success, having thrown for 210 yards and rushed for 43 yards in last week’s game. The question remains: can the Bulls score another upset against a ranked SEC opponent?

Elsewhere, the Syracuse Orange are hosting the UConn Huskies after their unconvincing performance against Tennessee. Syracuse fell 45-26 in their last outing and hopes to bounce back against a UConn team that convincingly defeated CCSU 59-13. Both teams have what it takes to make this match competitive, but Syracuse will need to tighten up its game to avoid another setback.

In North Carolina, head coach Bill Belichick will look to turn around his team after a rough start against TCU. The Tar Heels lost 48-14 in Belichick’s debut, and they now face Charlotte, who is also seeking their first win of the season. The road just got tougher for UNC, but Belichick’s track record suggests a possible turnaround is on the horizon.

It’s been over a decade since the historic Kansas and Missouri Border War was played. This season, both teams are coming off strong starts; Missouri convincingly beat Central Arkansas 61-6 while Kansas has a 2-0 record. The game will be an exciting renewal of their rivalry, with both teams seeking dominance early in the season.

Lastly, the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will host Sam Houston State after suffering a loss against Arizona. There’s pressure on both squads, particularly for the Bearkats, who are desperate for a win to avoid an 0-4 start. Hawaii, having struggled in its previous encounters, will look to improve on both sides of the ball in this matchup.

All in all, Week 2 presents incredible potential for upsets and highlight-reel performances as teams look to establish themselves in the early days of the season.
