Cleveland’s Myles Garrett Shines Again in NFL Top 100
In Cleveland, Myles Garrett has once again made a significant mark on the NFL landscape by being listed as the 8th best player in the NFL Top 100 Players rankings for 2025. This honor comes from a vote by players across the league, and it’s clear that they recognize Garrett’s substantial contributions on the field.
Garrett’s 2024 season was nothing short of extraordinary. He dominated with a league-leading 22 tackles for loss and recorded 14 sacks, along with 47 total tackles, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Notably, this marked his fourth consecutive season with 14 or more sacks, making him the first player in NFL history to achieve this milestone.
In addition to these impressive stats, Garrett became just the 45th player in NFL history since 1982 to surpass the 100 career sacks mark, accomplishing this feat in only his 115th game. He is also the only player to do so before turning 29, underlining his early career success. With 102.5 career sacks since 2017, Garrett stands second in the league, trailing only T.J. Watt and holding the record for the most sacks in Browns history.
Garrett’s ability to disrupt opposing offenses has only grown. Last season, he faced double teams a stunning 30 percent of the time during pass rush attempts. His accolades include six Pro Bowl selections, four First-Team All-Pro honors, and winning Defensive Player of the Year in 2023. After securing a four-year contract extension through 2030, Garrett is firmly positioned as a cornerstone of Cleveland’s defense.
As the Browns gear up for the 2025 season, he continues to embrace a larger leadership role. He was recently named one of the team captains alongside standout players like Joel Bitonio and Denzel Ward. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz believes Garrett’s next challenge is to transition from a Defensive Player of the Year to an MVP candidate, given his prominent role in the team’s defensive success.
With the 2025 season kicking off against the Bengals in Week 1, the anticipation around Garrett and the Browns is palpable. However, the team has faced some hurdles, including waiving long snapper Brent Matiscik and injuries affecting some players during practice. As part of their efforts to celebrate the team’s embodiment of the Dawg Pound spirit, the Browns are also rolling out a season-long initiative.
As training camp continues and with the Browns Daily coverage airing regularly, the excitement builds for what promises to be an exhilarating season ahead!
