With many talented young players returning to the green, this fall is poised to be nothing short of spectacular. From seasoned seniors to promising sophomores, this region is filled with golfers ready to showcase their skills.

Meet the Boys: Rising Stars of the Fairway

Leading the charge is Spencer Ives from the Community School of Naples. This talented senior has earned the title of the Southwest Florida Boys Golfer of the Year, and judging by his performance last season, it’s easy to see why! Spencer consistently shot impressive scores, including a fantastic 71 at the Class 1A state championships, reaching fourth place.

Hot on his tail is Sam Iglesias from Bishop Verot, who also put in some solid work with an outstanding second-place finish at the District 1A-12 tournament. Though he faced challenges at the regionals and state championships, his experience on the course is invaluable as he heads into his final high school season.

Another noteworthy golfer is Andrew Green, also from Bishop Verot. With a score of 74 at the District 1A-12 tournament, Andrew shows great potential to make waves this fall. And keep an eye on sophomore Tyler Latreille from Marco Island! He not only snagged the low medalist honor at the District 1A-12 tournament with a sharp 71 but also secured a spot in the Class 1A state championships, finishing 14th with a score of 73-74.

From Community School of Naples, Michael Siek is another player who promises great things, as he looks to build on his experience from last season. With a solid showing at regionals with a 79, he’s certainly a player to watch. Aidan Currin from Bishop Verot and Jack Psota from Barron Collier are also looking to elevate their games this year and continue improving their skills on the course.

Introducing the Girls: Swinging Into Success

On the girls’ side, junior Aubrey Deal from Aubrey Rogers has already made quite the impression, tying for fifth at the Class 2A regionals and earning her spot in the state tournament. She finished 56th at the state championships but is eager to improve her game this season.

Then there’s Megan Grohowski from Canterbury, a seasoned senior back for one last hurrah! After placing seventh at the Private 8 Tournament and 12th at District 1A-12, she’s focused on sharpening her skills and making a splash in her final season.

Julia Kirwin and Morgan Michetti from Community School of Naples are both talented sophomores who showed great promise last season. Julia secured top-three finishes at both the Private 8 and District 1A-12 events, ending up in eighth place at regionals. Morgan, on the other hand, shone as the medalist at regionals, where she shot an impressive 74!

Don’t overlook the hardworking Megan Hartfield from The Village School and Emily Stewart from Estero, both seniors who are hoping to make their last season a memorable one by consistently improving their scores.

Finally, as a standout among the girls, Erin Toole from St. John Neumann made headlines last season by winning the Private 8 championship with a superb score of 71. Her strong showing at District 1A-12 is sure to put her in the spotlight this season.
