Las Vegas, NV – Rookie running back Ashton Jeanty had a breakout performance during the second preseason game of his career on Saturday night, showcasing his talent against the San Francisco 49ers. Despite the Raiders losing the game 22-19, Jeanty made a strong impression with his performance.
In the first quarter, Jeanty was handed the ball and managed to burst through the defense, even running over 49ers defender Deommodore Lenoir to secure a first down. This moment marked what Jeanty referred to as his “I’m here” moment, signifying his arrival in the league. After the game, Jeanty shared, “Definitely today, for sure. It takes time as a rookie to kind of gain that confidence. I’ve arrived, and it’s time to keep going and make plays for this team.”
Jeanty finished the game with 33 rushing yards on seven carries and added a touchdown. His teammate, Raiders quarterback Geno Smith, praised his aggressive playing style, stating, “He’s running through people, and he’s not shying away from contact. I think he’s going to be a really special player.” Smith went on to highlight Jeanty’s ability to make plays in the open field, which got everyone on the sidelines excited during the game.
Moreover, head coach Pete Carroll expressed his approval of Jeanty’s performance, especially a remarkable run on a critical 3rd-and-long play. Carroll noted, “He gives you a feel, and I was really fired up about that. Everybody was on the sidelines as well with him getting his first touchdown, that helps us all.” The Raiders are gearing up for their season, and Jeanty’s performance has sparked enthusiasm among fans and teammates alike.
As the regular season approaches, all eyes will be on Jeanty to see if he can continue this momentum and help lead the Raiders to success.
