MERCED, Calif. – UC Merced has announced the creation of a new club aimed at supporting scholar-athletes and enhancing the university’s growing intercollegiate sports programs. As the university makes its entry into the NCAA Division II competition, the Bobcat Club is established to provide crucial resources for students, helping them achieve both their athletic and academic dreams.

The Bobcat Club is described as a dedicated network consisting of alumni, families, and fans who are all committed to the holistic development of scholar-athletes at UC Merced. Members of the club have the chance to direct their donations to the Bobcat Excellence Fund or to contribute directly to any of the university’s twelve athletic programs.

One exciting feature for alumni is the opportunity to participate in the Locker Legacy program. This program allows donors to name a locker in the men’s or women’s soccer, basketball, or volleyball locker rooms, fostering a deeper connection to the teams.

According to E. Edward Klotzbier, Vice Chancellor and Chief External Relations Officer, “Athletics has long been an area of interest for our supporters, and now with the Bobcat Club and our move to the NCAA, donors can directly support our scholar-athletes and championship-winning athletic programs.” This initiative reflects a robust commitment to strengthening the athletic community within the university.

For those interested in learning more about the Bobcat Club, it is encouraged to visit the university’s official website. This move indicates a positive step forward in the university’s athletic journey and highlights the importance of community involvement in enhancing student opportunities.
