ATLANTA – Exciting news for Georgia Tech’s athletics community as head coach Aileen Morales has been recognized as a member of the Softball on SI NCAA Division I All-Quarter-Century Team. This prestigious honor comes after Morales, a former shortstop for the Yellow Jackets, gathered nearly 1,000 votes, making her one of the standout selections among 42 shortstops considered from the past 25 years.
Georgia Tech proudly shares this achievement with eight other schools that have alumni on the All-Quarter-Century Team, and it’s particularly noteworthy that they are one of just three Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) schools represented.
During her collegiate career at Tech, Morales proved to be one of the most accomplished infielders. As a freshman, she had a notable season, batting .296 with five doubles, a triple, two home runs, and leading the ACC with 44 stolen bases in 49 attempts. This impressive performance earned her the ACC co-Freshman of the Year title as well as second-team all-conference honors. Over the years, she secured her position as a three-time all-ACC honoree, finishing her playing career as a third-team All-America selection.
Morales is still active in the program, leading the Jackets to significant accomplishments in recent seasons, such as achieving three top-25 wins and qualifying for the NCAA Regionals. Last March, she celebrated her own milestone, securing her 200th win as Tech’s head coach with a close victory over NC State.
In addition, her mentorship has led to recognition for her players, with two athletes receiving ACC All-Freshman nods and three others being selected for the NFCA Third Team All-Region honors.
