Amarillo, TX – It’s always exciting when local talent makes waves, and this is certainly the case for high school baseball players from the Texas Panhandle. Nearly two months since the baseball season wrapped up, the Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) has unveiled its all-state teams, and guess what? Fourteen standout players from our area have made the cut!
A Big Representation from the Panhandle
Each UIL classification has been represented in this prestigious list, showcasing the diversity and talent flowing through the Texas high school baseball scene, however, it’s worth mentioning that Class 1A had only two teams and an honorable mention list. The Texas Panhandle may not have any Class 6A schools, but it sure made its mark in every other classification!
Teams like Nazareth, Gruver, West Plains, and Amarillo High showcased incredible dedication and skill, making them the stars of the playoffs as they all reached the regional semifinals. The passion and hard work of these players are truly commendable.
Top Performers Recognized
Now, let’s dive into the highlights, shall we? In Class 5A, Austin Sluder from Amarillo High stood out as the only TSWA All-State selection, earning an honorable mention as an outfielder. His performance on the field has surely made a lasting impression!
When it comes to Class 4A, the Texas Panhandle shined the brightest with seven players securing spots on the TSWA list. Tell Bryant from Hereford celebrated success as he earned second-team All-State honors as a first baseman. What an achievement! Jacob Burris and Carson Allen, both hailing from Canyon, also made the list, earning third-team recognition as outfielder and infielder, respectively. Carson has his sights set on Tarleton State, where he’ll continue to develop his skills.
Additionally, Ethan Bentley from West Plains, Max Neff from Pampa, Noah Zamora from Hereford, and Andrew Bellino from Canyon all received honorable mentions for their stellar contributions to their teams. What a roster of phenomenal athletes!

Max is set to take his baseball skills to Wayland Baptist, while Colton, the son of the Bushland Falcons’ head football coach, will switch gears to football at Friends University. Both are definitely on exciting career paths!
Class 2A saw Stephen Cowan from Gruver snag second-team all-state recognition at second base. Another notable player worth mentioning is Luke Grajeda from Sunray, whose significant contributions to the Bobcats’ football team (which boasted an impressive 12-1 record in 2024) didn’t go unnoticed as he also found a spot on the Class 2A list.
