Seattle Seahawks Hold Annual Football Fest at Lumen Field
SEATTLE — After a week and a half of training camp at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center, the Seattle Seahawks made their way to Lumen Field for their annual Football Fest. This annual event allowed fans to join in on the excitement by watching practice in the team’s home stadium.
Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald praised the atmosphere, saying, “Great to be back at Lumen, great practice, great show out from the 12s. It was a great atmosphere, music was bumping, guys were into it.” He added that the players were feeling the effects of training camp but maintained a positive outlook heading into the team’s day off.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, a standout rookie, caught the attention of both fans and teammates during practice. He displayed his impressive skills in one-on-one drills, getting past Pro-Bowler Devon Witherspoon for a touchdown. His connection with quarterback Sam Darnold is growing stronger each day, with Darnold praising his route-running and speed.
This training camp is not without its challenges, as Darnold noted the strength of Seattle’s defense. He appreciated the tough competition they’re providing, helping him sharpen his skills ahead of the season.
On the running back front, Kenneth Walker III continues to lead while Zach Charbonnet shines in his role. Charbonnet showed off his abilities with impressive runs, including a long touchdown during practice.
Special teams player Brady Russell took on multiple roles during practice, acting as an emergency long snapper. Despite some early mishaps, he delivered a crucial snap that helped kicker Jason Myers hit a 49-yard field goal.
Alongside their on-field performance, Devon Witherspoon and Riq Woolen took the time to engage with fans after practice. Both players signed autographs for nearly an hour, showing appreciation for their supporters.
