Among the affected is Camp Mystic, an all-girls summer camp, which tragically lost at least 27 campers and counselors.
As search and recovery efforts continue, the NFL teams have stepped up to support the community. The Houston Texans were the first to announce their involvement, contributing a generous donation of $500,000 on July 5. Shortly after, on July 6, the Dallas Cowboys joined them along with the NFL Foundation, totaling a financial commitment of $1.5 million to aid those impacted by the floods.
Other teams are also getting involved, displaying solidarity and compassion. Arthur Blank, owner of the Atlanta Falcons, pledged another $500,000 through his foundation on July 10 to assist with recovery efforts. In his statement, he expressed thoughts and prayers for the victims in the Texas Hill Country, highlighting the community’s pain and hardship.
The Kansas City Chiefs were also quick to act. Owner Clark Hunt lost his relative, 9-year-old Janie Hunt, in the tragedy at Camp Mystic. On July 9, he partnered with other Major League Soccer teams, including FC Dallas and Austin FC, also donating $500,000 to support recovery efforts. He stated that their family is heartbroken and stands with all those grieving and suffering from the impact of the floods.
Furthermore, the Minnesota Vikings announced their own donation of $500,000 on July 9, expressing sadness about the ongoing devastation. The team’s owners shared their thoughts and prayers for the families affected and praised those leading the rescue efforts.
Following the initial donations, the NFL announced its contribution of $500,000 on behalf of the NFL Foundation on July 6. The league acknowledges the unified effort of the Texas-based teams and aims to provide immediate assistance as well as long-term resources for rebuilding.
