In Fayetteville, Arkansas, excitement is building as the finalists for the prestigious The Bowerman award have been announced. This award is often regarded as the Heisman Trophy of collegiate track and field. It recognizes the top three athletes for their exceptional performances throughout the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons. The winner will be revealed on December 18 at the 2025 USTFCCCA convention.
The men’s finalists for this year are Jordan Anthony, Nathaniel Ezekiel, and Ja’Kobe Tharp. Jordan Anthony has made history as he becomes the third finalist from the University of Arkansas, following in the footsteps of 2016 winner Jarrion Lawson and 2022 finalist Ayden Owens-Delerme.
Nathaniel Ezekiel marks a significant achievement as he is the first athlete from Baylor University to be recognized in this manner. Meanwhile, Ja’Kobe Tharp is also creating waves, becoming the first finalist from Auburn University.
On the women’s side, the finalists are Pamela Kosgei, Doris Lemngole, and Savannah Sutherland. Pamela Kosgei has made her mark, being the first athlete from University of New Mexico to receive a finalist spot, although her cross country achievements do not contribute to her qualifications for The Bowerman. Doris Lemngole has made history as the first athlete from University of Alabama to be a finalist, also with the same exclusion of her cross country accolades. Lastly, Savannah Sutherland becomes the first finalist for the University of Michigan.
