Devin Fitzgerald Commits to Notre Dame Football

In a big move for both the Fighting Irish and Devin Fitzgerald, the talented wide receiver from Arizona announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday night. Fitzgerald, who plays at Brophy Prep, is a three-star prospect and ranks as the 71st-wide receiver in the Class of 2026 according to ESPN.

Fitzgerald chose Notre Dame over offers from other top programs, particularly UCLA. This decision makes him the 24th member of Notre Dame’s incoming recruiting class, which is currently ranked fourth in the nation for the 2026 cycle. Fitzgerald’s recruitment has been consistent since his freshman year, despite Notre Dame waiting until May to extend an official scholarship offer. This delay came after a breakout junior season where he made 52 catches for 720 yards and scored nine touchdowns.

Notre Dame’s wide receivers coach, Mike Brown, played a key role in Fitzgerald’s recruitment. Known for his experience in the NFL from 2012 to 2015, Coach Brown has a long-standing relationship with Fitzgerald, having known him since he was just five years old. “I’ve developed into a better ballplayer, and they really think I’m going to turn into a great player,” Fitzgerald said. He expressed confidence in his fit with the team, noting that they plan for him to step in and play early in his college career.

Devin Fitzgerald is following in the footsteps of his father, legendary NFL receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who had a remarkable college football career at Pittsburgh before being picked third overall in the 2004 NFL draft. Larry became one of the best wide receivers in NFL history during his 17 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. “Having my dad there to help me throughout the recruiting process has been great,” Devin shared, stating that his father’s experience has been invaluable.

Fitzgerald joins the Irish program as one of several recruits with NFL ties, as they build their Class of 2026. Alongside him is four-star outside linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., son of former Carolina Panthers All-Pro, as well as four-star wide receiver Kaydon Finley, whose father is Super Bowl champion Jermichael Finley.

With Devin Fitzgerald now in the fold, Notre Dame aims to enhance their wide receiver depth this cycle, as he is one of four wide receivers committed so far. The Irish are also expecting potential additions like Brayden Robinson, who is set to announce his decision soon, possibly adding further excitement to this promising recruiting class.
