Buffalo, NY – After taking a year off from football, wide receiver Chase Claypool is ready to make his comeback in the 2025 NFL season. The former second-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers is optimistic about his future and feels he is back to his best shape yet.

Claypool, who turns 27 on July 7, said he has been dedicating himself to rehabilitation and workouts every day for the past year. His 2024 season was cut short due to a serious toe injury, where he tore a ligament and a tendon during training camp. This setback forced him to miss an entire season, but he claims it has only made him stronger and faster.

In an Instagram post, Claypool reflected on his journey over the last couple of years, stating, “I deeply and truly believe that the pieces will align… and I will work my way into the position to show off what’s been suppressed these last two years.” He also expressed gratitude for his time with the Buffalo Bills, a team he signed with last offseason. He noted that joining the Bills was a significant opportunity, saying, “Signing with Buffalo was the best thing that could’ve ever happened to me.” During his time with the Bills, he progressed from 14th string to taking first-team reps, showcasing his growing talent and dedication.

Claypool burst onto the scene as a rookie after being selected 49th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. He matched a Steelers franchise record for rookies with 11 total touchdowns, a feat he shares with legends like Franco Harris. However, his performance saw a decline in the following seasons, leading to trades to the Chicago Bears and then to the Miami Dolphins, where he had a tough time finding success.

Despite the challenges, Claypool remains confident in his abilities and is eager to contribute to a team that needs a dynamic receiver. He stated, “I am back to being the strongest and fastest I’ve ever been… and couldn’t be more excited to step back out on the field and let my actions speak for themselves.” Fans and teams alike will be watching closely as he prepares for his hopeful return to football.
