Telluride, Colorado – The Telluride High School lacrosse team has produced impressive alumni, and one of their standout players from the 2024 season, Jay Ellison, is making waves at Babson College in Massachusetts. After a remarkable senior year that put Telluride lacrosse on the map, Jay graduated and took his talents to the collegiate level.

During his first season with the Beavers, which falls under NCAA Division III, Ellison began to make his mark in the sport. The 2025 season saw him participating in several games, contributing to Babson’s successful campaign, which resulted in a 14-6 overall record. That win-loss record reflects a strong performance, especially considering the program’s unprecedented heights in recent years.

Babson College enjoyed a stellar run leading up to the 2025 season, having achieved a 7-0 regular-season record in their conference play and clinching the NEWMAC Tournament. Their playoff journey was notable, as they competed fiercely, facing tough opponents from around the country.

Despite facing a challenging Sweet 16 matchup against the highly-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology and eventually losing, the Beavers rallied back with determination, displaying their resilience throughout the season. Jay’s journey included contributing in games against formidable rivals, yet he did not manage to score in the season but gained valuable experience on the field.

The Beavers rounded out the 2025 campaign with three losses to top-10 teams, highlighting the caliber of competition they faced. As the season progressed, Babson clinched their third consecutive NEWMAC Men’s Presidents Cup, further showcasing their dominance in the sport.
