Lincoln, NE – As the college volleyball world gears up for the 2025 season, excitement buzzes in the air following Penn State‘s incredible run to its eighth national championship title in 2024. With the trophy now in their cabinet, schools across the nation are prepping to battle it out for the championship in the upcoming season.
The 2025 college volleyball season kicks off with the highly anticipated AVCA First Serve Showcase, which will take place from August 22 to August 25. This year, the showcase has expanded, boasting participation from 10 teams, up from just four last year. Matches will occur at two different venues, centralizing in Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, NE.
Last year’s opener was a smashing success, featuring Nebraska and Louisville, who later returned to the same arena for the NCAA tournament semifinals. This trend invites fans to stay glued to their seats as they witness thrilling matchups that set the tone for the season.
After the opening showcase, the competition intensifies with several tournaments lined up. From August 29 to September 1, teams from across the country will participate in various invitationals and classics, including matches focusing on the final 16 teams from the 2024 NCAA tournament.
As many teams aim to rise through the ranks, their performances during these early-season contests will be crucial. The season’s climactic moments will occur in Kansas City, Missouri, where the semifinals and title game are set to be hosted at the T-Mobile Center. This venue marks a significant return, as it last hosted the DI volleyball finals in 2017, creating an electrifying atmosphere for the championship.
As we wait in anticipation, enthusiasts and players alike look forward to the thrill of competition. For more updates on match schedules and team performances throughout the season, fans are encouraged to keep track of developments in this ever-evolving sport.
