Exciting Upgrades Coming to Conway High Baseball and Softball Facilities!

Conway is buzzing with excitement as the local high school baseball and softball facilities are all set to receive some fabulous upgrades! Thanks to Horry County Schools’ athletic improvement plan, these renovations are expected to bring a fresh look and improved functionality to the fields, making them more enjoyable for players and fans alike.

A Grand Plan Unfolding

So, what’s the scoop? These upgrades are part of phase six of a much larger initiative dedicated to enhancing athletic facilities across the district. The improvements are slated to kick off this summer, showing that Horry County Schools is committed to providing top-notch facilities for their athletes.

The construction work is scheduled to begin on July 15, starting with the beloved schools of Conway and Aynor. With renovations planned to roll out through 2029, we can expect to see approximately two schools getting spruced up at a time, so the excitement will keep building!

Get Ready for Some Major Improvements

The list of upgrades is impressive and includes a range of exciting features. For starters, there will be major enhancements to irrigation systems and the installation of a state-of-the-art underdrain system. This change is particularly significant, as drainage issues often plague fields during the early spring. No more soggy fields for our athletes!

To make the game-day experience even better, all district baseball and softball fields will receive new bleacher seating, which will be raised a generous three and a half feet off the ground. Imagine the view! Class 5A schools can look forward to around 500 seats, while Class 3A schools will have about 400 seats, and our 1A Green Sea Floyds will enjoy approximately 300 seats. Accessibility is key, and the new bleacher systems will also ensure full compliance with ADA standards.

All About Comfort and Convenience

But that’s not all! The project will also focus on demolishing and renovating existing press boxes, concession stands, and bathroom facilities at both Conway and Aynor in the first year. Just think about how much more comfortable fans will be with upgraded facilities at their disposal!

In addition, new netted backstops will replace outdated chain link fences, providing better sightlines for fans and improving the overall viewing experience. Gone are the days of obstructed views, as a clever tieback system will take care of that pesky issue by eliminating poles that block the view.

And let’s not forget about the field itself! Fence lines will be revamped with brand-new installations, including stunning 30-foot foul poles across all locations. There will also be bullpen upgrades, cosmetic enhancements to dugouts, and shiny new covered batting cage tunnels that will take practice to a whole new level!

What’s Next for Conway and Beyond?

With anticipation building, athletic directors from Aynor and Conway are looking forward to the positive impact that these improvements will have on fan experiences. Who doesn’t love attending a game and cheering on the home team in a vibrant and well-equipped setting?

Looking ahead, future enhancements are already in the works! Carolina Forest and Green Sea Floyds will see their improvements rolling out in 2026, followed by St. James and Myrtle Beach in 2027. Loris baseball and softball, along with Socastee softball, are scheduled for upgrades in 2028, and finally, we’ll see North Myrtle Beach baseball and softball, along with Socastee baseball, get their turn in 2029.

All in all, Conway is gearing up for a bright new era in local high school athletics. Stay tuned as these exciting upgrades unfold!
