Albany – Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown is currently wanted by authorities in Florida due to a serious charge of attempted murder. This comes after an incident that took place last month during an amateur boxing event in Miami. According to reports, a judge in Miami-Dade County has issued a warrant for Brown, which includes a charge of attempted murder with a firearm. If he posts a bond set at $10,000, he is to remain under house arrest.

Brown is alleged to have grabbed a handgun from a security staff member and fired two shots at a man named Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, with whom he had previously been involved in a fistfight. Authorities reported that one of the shots grazed Nantambu’s neck. Although Brown was briefly detained after the incident, he was released without any charges initially, as officers were unable to locate the victim at that time. Brown claimed he had been “jumped” by people attempting to steal his jewelry.

Having spent the majority of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Brown’s time in the NFL was marked by both incredible talent and significant controversies. The last he played was in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he infamously removed his jersey and pads and exited the field mid-game.

Brown has faced multiple legal issues over the years, including accusations of battery, domestic violence charges, and failing to pay child support. His recent legal troubles come on the heels of a short and troubled tenure as the owner of the Albany Empire, an arena football team. After joining the ownership team earlier in 2023, Brown quickly asserted his claim as the sole owner, leading to disagreements with other team members and eventually the dissolution of the Empire.

Reports indicate that during the boxing event, numerous patrons witnessed shots fired and pointed to Brown as the shooter. Although no weapon was found during his initial detention, bullet casings were discovered at the scene. Brown’s history of erratic behavior in recent years has raised questions about his future, both legally and in terms of sports.

As Brown faces these serious accusations, the sports world is left watching closely to see how this situation unfolds.
